SiteRay 3.0
From SiteRay wiki
This is a version of SiteRay (previously Sitescore). All Silktide customers were upgraded to this version in early March 2009.
Changes
Improvements
- Drastically improved Use of keywords test. This now accounts for the relative desirability of keywords within a site, and scores more important keywords more strongly. Additional filters have also been added. This test has been shown to be more representative of real site performance than the previous version.
- Replaced existing wiki with this wiki. All help links and content updated.
- Replaced hardcoded welcome text with dynamic content from Sitescore/Webscan blog. Administrators may change the blog under the Branding settings.
- Massively improved speed and reliability of result transfer under most common conditions (where possible, servers now use shared storage in preference to HTTP based RPC).
- Broken links test now has additional options (test external links, test GET request skipping HEAD).
- Improved reliability of report execution (faster repair from failure, rewrote transfer handler, better diagnostics).
- Improved reliability and performance of spidering.
- Added Test log to all reports. Users can now view how long each test took to run, and whether any problems occurred during the testing process. Failures are highlighted.
- (Not applicable for all customers) Added support for custom branding (under Admin, a new option: Branding). The banner images within the interface and on printed reports may be changed. The Silktide logo may optionally be removed. An RSS feed may be selected, containing news, displayed after logged in. The login welcome message may be customised. Links to the online help (this wiki) may be disabled.
- Drastically improvement performance and reliability of multi-socket tests (File usage test, Broken links test). Optimised for PHP5.
- New upgrade system allows for far easier deployment of future patches.
- Added variable quota limits and automated cleanup.
- Removed "thumbalizr" watermark from all screenshots. Better quality screenshots.
- Improved site list display to include Duration column, clarified display of failed reports.
- Added per-page breakdown of results for Analytics software test.
- When a report fails, re-running it is now easier (one click from the error description, or two from the Report menu).
Fixes
- Updated search engine profiles to handle Live (previously MSN) search results.
- Added "US-specific" option for Live result filtering. New "Global" default now searches all countries.
- Fixed problem affected some Yahoo search result analysis.
- Fixed some problems with screenshots not being regenerated when manually requested.
- Fixed spell exclusions being ignored once too many are added.
- Fixed spell checker flagging some email addresses as mis-spelt words.
- Fixed spell checker attempting to check words containing invalid characters (i.e. non SGML).
- Fixed problem where redirection to incompletely formed URLs would cause spider to ignore pages a browser would not. Sitescore now spiders these pages.
- Fixed problem where screenshots which had not run corrupted layout of exported reports (e.g. Word, PDF).
- SiteRay automatically cleans up incorrectly configured defunct tests from previous versions ("Availability", "Similarity").
For developers only
- Added additional developer tools for analysing SE results, individual test execution, HTTP pool analysis, screenshot analysis.
- Migrated all code from PHP4 to PHP5 (now compatible with both).
Minor
- All names changed from Sitescore to SiteRay.
- Added Analytics software test to Quality Score with low weighting.
- Some typos fixed, and some explanations clarified.
WebScan
This upgrade will be presented as WebScan 3.0.70.
